The 2011-2012 CanSkate Season Began Nov 14, 2011
CanSkate, the official Skate Canada learn-to-skate program, began November 14, 2011. CanSkate is a learn-to-skate program for beginners of all ages who want to learn the basics of skating. The CanSkate program emphasizes progressive learning in a fun environment. It is taught in a group lesson format by Skate Canada professional coaches and trained Program Assistants. Skaters complete the program ready for figure skating, speed skating or hockey.
The program is organized in six stages of learning. Each stage has six fundamental movements: Go forward, Go backward, Stop, Turn, Spin and Jump. The skills in these fundamental movement categories progress in order from the very simple to the more complex. Once the skills on each stage are mastered, a badge is awarded.
Skaters complete the CanSkate program ready for figure skating, speed skating or hockey.
Given the late start this year due to the fire at CGC we are not planning a January intake. We are offering a single 17 week session rather than two 11 week sessions that you have come to know.
We would like to inform you that our CanSkate program is currently full. We are however putting people on a waitlist should a spot come available. If you would like to be placed on the waitlist please send a note to arcticedsc@northwestel.net.
