CanSkate, the official Skate Canada learn-to-skate program, begins October 5, 2010.  CanSkate is a learn-to-skate program for beginners of all ages who want to learn the basics of skating. The CanSkate program emphasizes progressive learning in a fun environment. It is taught in a group lesson format by Skate Canada professional coaches and trained Program Assistants. Skaters complete the program ready for figure skating, speed skating or hockey.

The program is organized in six stages of learning. Each stage has six fundamental movements: Go forward, Go backward, Stop, Turn, Spin and Jump. The skills in these fundamental movement categories progress in order from the very simple to the more complex. Once the skills on each stage are mastered, a badge is awarded.
Skaters complete the CanSkate program ready for figure skating, speed skating or hockey.
Please register early as the program fills up quickly.
