Arctic Edge Skating Club will once again begin offering CanPower Programs during the 2009-20010 season. Please contact info@arcticedge.ca if you are interested in enrolling in our December programs.
Arctic Edge Skating Club Executive and Coaches have been working hard to get organized for next years season. Thanks to the planning input that was provided by parents, skaters and coaches we have draft ice schedules and proposed fees for programs for the 2009-2010 season and it is not yet July. As a result of your input, we have made some changes to our programs for the upcoming season. Here are some of the things that you will notice.
- CanSkate and Jumpstart times will move 15 minutes later to allow parents extra time to get there after work The new time is 6:15 - 7:00 PM
- Adult skating time has been increased from 45 minutes to 1 hour to allow more time for a full workout and dedicated coaching for the growing numbers of adult skaters in the club.
- We have restructured the groups in our StarSkate series. Due to the numbers of skaters at various levels we are offering junior, intermediate/teen, and senior sessions each week. Criteria for each session are included on the regular season schedule.
- Based on your input we have added group lessons each day for each of the three StarSkate groups. Based on your feedback, we plan to structure the lessons to include a variety of skills and exposure to a variety of coaches.
- The September Starskate schedule is not as predictable as we would like. This is due to the fact that there will only be one sheet of ice in at that time and we need to share it with a variety of user groups.
- August 31 marks the first day of the StarSkate season
- September 30 marks the beginning of our regular schedule and the start of Adult, Canskate and Jumpstart programs.
- StarSkaters please mark September 18, 19 & 20 on your calendars as we are planning to offer a seminar with guest coaches that weekend.
- We have reworked our fee structure to better position our club to deal with increasing ice and coaching fees associated with additional group lessons. The fee increases are modest. better represent paying for ice used and remain about 1/3 - 1/2 of what you would pay in any other club in Canada.
- Bingo requirements have been readjusted. They also better reflect the amount of ice time used. Junior and Intermediate programs will see a reduction from 10 to 8 bingos required in the 2009-2010 skating year.
We know that many of you are already planning your fall schedules and we hope that getting this information out early, helps you to get organized and include skating in your plans for next year.
